beginner workshops
Intro to Bookmaking
This two-hour introductory workshop breaks down three different book forms step-by-step, from flat pieces of paper into works of art.
No previous experience is necessary. All tools and materials provided.
Private Lesson (Individual): $50
Group Session (2-4 People): $25 per student
Thrift Re-Bound
Learn how to easily transform any paperback book into a hardcover masterpiece. For this workshop you will need a non-sentimental paperback book in any condition (I recommend bringing in a few to choose from). We will go over essential book conservation techniques, as well as how to create a hardcover case and insert your book block.
This workshop is recommended for beginner-intermediate students. All tools and materials (minus your thrifted book) are provided.

Vision Board Books
Learn how to create your own vision board books in this two-hour beginner friendly workshop. Together we will go through the steps for creating your goals or vision, that we will then transform into a series of collages. Finally, we will bind the whole thing together with a traditional Japanese binding technique.
All tools and materials are provided. Feel free to bring along any collage material that you would like to incorporate into your book.

let’s make zines!
In this beginner-friendly workshop, learn how to make original zines with themes. Using collage as a narrative tool, students will practice developing a topic or following a feeling to guide their work and create two meaningful, authentic zines, that we will then scan and print multiples of.
All tools and materials are provided, no experience is necessary.

intermediate workshops
Intermediate Bookmaking
Expand your bookmaking skills in this two-hour workshop for intermediate students. Learn how to make your own hardcover sketchbooks and journals with step-by-step instructions for two different book forms.
Intro to Bookmaking recommended. All tools and materials provided.
Private Lesson (Individual): $60
Group Session (2-4 People): $30 per student
Japanese book binding
Dive deeper into the world of Japanese stab bindings in this 2 hour workshop, where we cover three alternative stab bindings. Learn the tortoiseshell, hemp leaf, and star bindings, along with the principles of Japanese stab binding, which will allow you to come up with your own designs.
All tools and materials are provided. Some bookmaking experience is recommended.

long-stitch Journals
Learn how to create stunning journals with multiple signatures, exposed stitching, and fabric covers in this 3 hour workshop, designed to give you a solid foundation in traditional bookmaking. This workshop is recommended for intermediate students.
All tools and materials are provided.

Coptic Sketchbooks
Learn how to make your own lay-flat sketchbooks using one of the world’s oldest binding methods. Students will learn how to tear down large sheets of premium paper, make their own hardcovers, and how to sew the signature coptic stitch in this 3 hour workshop.
This workshop is recommended for intermediate-advanced students. All tools and materials are provided.
